Yes!  But not in the way Western medicine might explain.

Acupuncture’s history dates back several thousand years to ancient China.  It is based on the idea of Qi, also known as the vital force, or energy, of life.  Acupuncturists use very fine needles to stimulate the body’s Qi and restore proper balance and flow through channels we call meridians.

This ancient practice has long been proven to treat and cure many pain afflictions and disorders, including arthritis, diabetes, anxiety, and hypertension.  Its efficacy can be explained neither by the rational mind alone nor proven through the exclusive means of modern science.  By shoring up the body’s resources and innate abilities to combat imbalances, acupuncture is considered a natural and holistic form of healthcare.

The use of acupuncture has been gaining greater momentum within the modern medicine community.  The growing number of medical doctors who possess and are pursuing acupuncture licenses in order to supplement their abilities as care providers are testament to its proven benefits and value. [/box]
